¿Qué Cocinaría Che?
We had two option for this project. We could either create a poster about what Che Guevara would say or find a Cuban food, and make it. I picked the second option and chose to make mango bread. I translated the original recipe into Spanish and used the command form to do so. Unfortunately the translated version will not upload to this website, but the English one is present below.
In addition to one of these selections, we also had to do a speaking portion about Che. I spoke about his revolutionary and communist tendencies, where he was originally from, his role in the Cuban revolution and the government that followed, and finally about how he met his end in Bolivia. Both of these portions of the project went very well. The bread I made was delicious and I memorized my talk about Che.

Refection |
My project was about the Argentinian children's author and illustrator Enrique Melantoni. I learned about where he was born, what his childhood was like, where he grew up, and how he got interested in writing and illustrating. I also learned about what he did before he was famous for his stories, about his family, and what he has written.
This process was tricky for me, as I could not find a lot of information about him. There was essentially only one website that was helpful in the production of this project, but that was one created by him, about him. However, he left out some details, like when he was born and how old he is, etc. Since this information was not present I was not able to include it in my presentation. |
This project overall went well for me. I learned a lot about the three past tenses in Spanish, the preterit, the imperfect, and the past preterite. I was able to use this information well and accurately in my project. The only major issue was the lack of information I mentioned in the description.
The exhibition also went well. I was able to memorize my elevator pitch about Enrique Melantoni and was also able to answer all of the questions people asked me. I was able to do all of this with the knowledge of Spanish I had gained through this year and my previous year of Spanish education. |
Proyecto
Cuento de tu niñez
Discription This project allowed us to use the preterite tense in Spanish to tell a story about our childhood. To do this, first we spent several days learning how to conjugate both regular and irregular verbs in this tense. After that, we spent some time choosing an event, simplifying it, and then we translated it with our limited spanish knowledge. When this was complete, we found a picture of ourselves during or around the time period of the event and attached it to our written piece.
|
Relfection This project showed us how important the preterite and imperfect tenses are in Spanish. Knowing these tenses allows us to communicate events that have already happened or are still happening but began at some point in the past. Being able to speak in the past tense in Spanish in just as important as speaking in the past tense in any other language. Knowing these tenses also made this project possible.

Projecto uno: Día en la Vida de ...
Project description
This project was a tool to help us master our new Spanish vocabulary. To achieve this we wrote a story about a day in the life of some fictional character. I chose to write mine about a T-Rex trying to do various things. Once the story was finished, we each gave an oral presentation of our story either by standing up and reading our stories, or by recording ourselves reading and compiling these recordings with words and images from our story. This project not only enabled us to use words from our latest vocabulary list, but it also helped us learn to use new grammar, specifically the reflexive form of verbs. The reflexive form of a word in Spanish is the form of a word used to speak about one's self. For example mirar meaning to look becomes mirarse meaning to look at one's self.
Por Que Statement
Estudio español porque quiero ir a la España, por terminar mis estudios, y por yo mismo.
I want to learn Spanish to make it easier to get a job. One career path I am considering is becoming a paleontologist, and it is a requirement to at least be able to read 2-3 languages. I also find Spanish enjoyable to learn and simpler than English. Learning another language will also open doors to more selective colleges and thus allow me to further my education.
